WHEN WILL HRITHIK’S KITES FLY?

Perhaps the most highly expected flick of the year, the release of Hrithik Roshan starrer Kitesis still quite uncertain this year.

The kind of hoopla created around Kites was one of the reasons for it being tagged as the most awaited film of the year. The rumours generated reportedly by the Roshan camp themselves about the Hrithik, Barbara link - up got only more steamy after having a look at the film’s sizzling promos. While some tagged the release date to be on December 11, others pushed it to December 18. News is that it could also be pushed up till December 25 to compete against big daddy Aamir’s next release Three Idiots.

However Papa Roshan had earlier explained to us, “The release date of Kites is still not zeroed upon as we want the film to have a global opening. I want to involve the international market with the film’s release and the technicality of the entire situation is taking its time. As the film is being made in both the Hindi and English language, the dubbing process is still ongoing.” For the time being, Rakesh Roshan is still in Los Angeles, negotiating with Hollywood studios, and his representative here said that the date will be finalised once he reached Indian shores, which could probably be by the end of this month or early next month.

There is a lot of effort being put to bring a happy end to this year with the three big releases, Raju Hirani’s Three Idiots, Kites and Karan Johar’s My Name is Khanrespectively. The year 2009 has been a bad one for Bollywood in view of the producer-multiplex strike played a major dampener leaving these films uncertainty on a tight rope. These eagerly awaited films are facing stiff competition with the dozens of other films that are already fighting for the Diwali-Chritsmas holidays to cash in on.

Here’s hoping these films get to see the light of day, this year in itself!

BIG B'S FIRST TIME WITH KATRINA

Amitabh Bachchan was recently honoured with a Lifetime of Achievement award by GQ magazine. On his blog, the superstar writes about all the people he met.

Katrina Kaif made her debut with him in Boom. About her, he wrote, ‘Katrina stabs a ‘Hey, it’s me!’ finger punch on my shoulder and we remember old times, the time of her very first film, Boomand how, as a shy, quiet girl, she had been bullied by the director not to ever look into the monitor. She was new and uncertain like most of us, but was keen to see what she looked like on screen. I thought it was a most natural and common desire and one that should have been allowed by the director, but when he did not express its possibility to the rest of the cast, I had dragged her to the monitor and given her the first look of what she looked like, to her. To her credit she still remembers that moment. Later as the film shoot in Dubai came to an end, I had invited all cast and crew to tour the city at night and to perhaps have a bite somewhere. I recollect the embarrassment she and all of us faced when she was stopped from going inside a club, because the man in charge of the door thought her to be underage. And now from a small insignificant part in Sarkar to the most googled and popular star in the firmament, Ms Kaif has come such a long way in such a short time.’

Vishal Bhardwaj was also a recipient at the GQ Awards. Mr. Bachchan wrote, ‘Vishal Bharadwaj is liberal in his speech about success being a branch that breaks easily, but exempts me from his example, and I wonder why.’

Amitabh Bachchan was feeling slightly embarrassed wearing glares, but Saif gave him company. ‘Saif, Kareena and I met back stage as we were either coming up to receive or coming down after. That Saif wore glasses gave me sufficient reason to be comfortable with my own,’ wrote the regular blogger.

The superstar-actor was all praise for Irrfan Khan. ‘Irrfan Khan, that understated yet most effective actor, and I spent time together. I love the way he performs, not just in films but in commercials too and told him so. That phone call from the phone booth before he gets the heart attack in The Namesake is a masterpiece. His cool and casual appearances in the brand advertisements have been emulated on many an occasion. He talks of Muqqadar ka Sikander I talk of his acts and we separate,’ concluded Mr. Bachchan.

AAMIR IN ANOTHER SOUTH REMAKE

After the super success of Ghajini, Aamir Khan will yet again be seen in another south film blockbuster and that too with Hrithik Roshan.

The producers of the blockbuster Allu Arvind and Madhu Mantena have planned the remake of the recent Telugu blockbuster Magadheera starring Ram Charan Teja. Magadheera grossed over Rs.65 crore and is termed as the biggest hit ever in the Telugu industry after Ghajini. After the response the Hindi version of Ghajini received in Bollywood, the producers felt it was only right to do the same with Magadheera and that too with their lucky charm Aamir Khan.

Madhu Mantena established to the press saying, ‘Yes Allu Arvind and I are remaking Magadheera in Hindi. As for the cast, it's too early to talk about it. But Magadheera is definitely being planned to be bigger than Ghajini. The remake of the film is only going to be much costlier, budgeted at Rs.70 crore. Magadheera set in the17th century had Ram Charan playing a double role, but the Hindi remake will have Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan playing the warrior in two different parts, one in the Middle ages and the other in a present day avatar respectively.

Source close to Aamir revealed, “Being a period film, the remake of Magadheera needs a lot of research and hard work, and being the perfectionist that Aamir is, he’ll be getting into the nitty- gritties of his character and the movie in itself. While Aamir has loved the idea of the entire film, he’s busy with the post-production work of wife Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghaat as of now. Still if Aamir does go ahead with the film you can only imagine what the outcome will be, it will be his first as a warrior in a period film and knowing him he always loves to do something different all the time.”

Let’s hope Aamir and Hrithik come together for this highly anticipated remake, for we can only imagine how explosive their performances combined can be to take Magadheera to an all new level!

KATRINA REPEATS, RIPS DRESS...

A stylist she shared with nayi dost, Bebo, saves the day

At the awards event held on Sunday night, one-time foes, Kareena and Katrina, met like long-lost friends. They hugged and kissed each other and Kat exchanged pleasantaries.

That wasn't all. They even shared a stylist, Anahita Shroff, who saved the day by fixing Kat's wardrobe malfunction at the event.

Katrina says, "When I was waiting backstage to receive my award, one of my friends stepped on it, and to my utter shock, it ripped right up to my thigh! For the first time I really freaked out, as the organisers kept telling me it was time to go on stage. I asked my friend to go fetch a needle and thread to sew up the tear but the poor girl was so nervous that her hands kept shaking and the stitching was crooked."

It was then that Katrina decided to take matters in her own hands. "I asked for Anahita, who had done Kareena and my styling for the event to come and help me. I was panicking by then! Anaita asked me to stay calm and within five minutes stitched it up so finely that I couldn't see the tear.

Then I walked on to the stage to get my award. Normally this kind of thing hasn't happened to me before, because we are always ready at shows. My hairdresser or other backups are always there to help out."

Wasn't this the same gown Katrina had worn to an awards event in January? Kat admits, "Yes it was the same one I had worn a few months back. It's one of my favorite gowns as I love the color red. I am glad I wore it as most of the actresses who came to the event - Lara, Aishwarya and Malaika were all attired in various shades of red like pink or maroon."

Kaif got the Woman of the Year award - an award also received previously by Jennifer Anniston in USA as given out by the same men's magazine.Year award - an award also received previously by Jennifer Anniston in USA as given out by the same men's magazine.

HARMAN-PRIYANKA REFUSED TO POSE TOGETHER

At the premiere of What's Your Raashee? in Toronto, Harman-Priyanka refused to pose together for fan pictures.

An eyewitness says, "They walked in at separate times, and when fans asked them to pose together, they laughed and didn't oblige.

They both seemed mindful about being snapped together and preferred to be clicked independently." Is this post break-up behaviour, or just a lack of their off-screen chemistry?

KAREENA-SALMAN ADORABLE COUPLE IN '...MRS.KHANNA', SAYS DIRECTOR

He is 43 and she is 29, but their age difference is no matter. Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor make an "adorable" couple on screen in his forthcoming "Main Aurr Mrs.Khanna", says debutant director Prem Soni.

"The age difference between Salman and Kareena was never a consideration. They make an totally adorable couple and complement each other on screen," Soni said over phone from Mumbai.

"They look good together in the film as there are no loud moments between them. The film has romantic instances here and there, but it has a very subtle treatment. There are cute scenes in the film and both of them have carried them really well," he added.

Newcomer Soni considers Salman his "godfather" and says the superstar was on board the project as soon as he heard the script and even asked his brother to produce the film.

"I had written the script and then fixed an meeting with Salman. His reaction after the narration was overwhelming. All he said was, 'I'm doing it'. That's how the project began," the director said.

"Salman is indeed my godfather in the industry as he is the one who has given me a break," he added.

For Soni, it was a cakewalk to get Kareena to play the heroine. "I went for the script narration to Kareena in Goa where she was shooting 'Golmaal Returns'. She loved the role and when I told her that Salman is doing the film, she said - 'Why would I say no to Salman?'. She instantly agreed," he said.

"Kareena is such a delight to work with. She is among the finest actors these days. She is so effervescent and as dedicated as an actor," he said.

A co-production of Sohail Khan Productions and UTV SpotBoy Pictures, the film also features Sohail in a pivotal role. But unlike popular belief, the film's plot is not based on an extramarital affair, Soni clarified.

"'Main Aurr Mrs.Khanna' is not based on an extramarital affair. It is just a story of three people. The whole extramarital thing is only a perception. For the real thing, you need to go and check out the movie," he said.

Asked about the USP of the movie, Soni said: "Its simplicity. The movie is very ordinary, very simple. It will touch a billion hearts with its real touch and that is what will make the story effective to the audience. We have given it a very contemporary look, but it isn't flashy at all."

"Main Aurr Mrs.Khanna" releases Oct 16, the same day as much-awaited action flick "Blue" and comedy "All The Best", but Soni says he is unperturbed.

"I have no apprehensions. It takes a lot of energy for every filmmaker to make a movie. So there are no hard feelings for anyone. May the best win because they are all of different genres and have their own set of audiences," he said.

SHAHRUKH'S MY IDOL, SAYS SALMAN KHAN

Salman Khan might not like SRK's personal attitude, but he is all praises for the actor's enthusiasm, professional attitude and physical features.

The actor was all praises for his Khan counter part duting his television show Dus Ka Dum.

In one episode of the game show on Sony Television, Salman said, "When it comes to romantic scenes no one can do it better than Shah Rukh Khan. He is proficiently great."

As if this was not enough, Salman went on to say that Shah Rukh has beautiful eyes.

"SRK has such beautiful eyes, it can make anybody go crazy," Salman said, adding, "SRK is the king of romance."

Salman also praised the honesty and dedication of Shah Rukh. He said that no one can be more professional than SRK and that he marvels at his dedication towards work. SRK was his idol when it comes to his attitude for work, Salman added.

SAIF’S DATE WITH JULIA ROBERTS

Hollywood beauty, Julia Roberts is in town and has expressed her desire to meet Chote Nawaab Saif Ali Khan and his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor.

YOUTH ICON AWARD WINNERS

Youth Icon awards bagged by Hrithik Roshan, Prinks, and Rahul Gandhi

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi was named Icon of the Year, while actors Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan bagged the youth icon awards in the entertainment field at a glittering award ceremony here.

Priyanka beat Katrina Kaif to the top spot and Hrithik left behind actor-director Farhan Akhtar at the inaugural edition of the India Youth Icon Awards organised jointly by Wizcraft Entertainment and electronics major Videocon at the Leela Kempinski Hotel here Friday night.

Rahul Gandhi, however, was not present to receive his award. Priyanka, who walked the red carpet, said being a youth icon meant a lot.

"Youth icon is a huge word. Today's generation, my generation is a very impatient one. It wants everything fast and mediocrity doesn't work for this generation. They are quick to dismiss something that doesn't work for them. So to be a youth icon for this generation, which has very high standards, feels great," Priyanka told IANS before the awards were announced.

The awards are aimed to recognize and reward individual excellence and exemplary achievement in the genres of business, sports, entertainment, media, social welfare and justice and technology.

In other categories, the winners included shooter Abhinav Bindra (sports), author Chetan Bhagat (the arts) and actor Rahul Bose (social justice and welfare).

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was graced with the Global Face of the Year award, while Deepika Padukone was named the Fashion Icon of the Year.

The Bharat Ratna recipient, who has lent her voice to songs in over 20 Indian languages, is known for her quest for perfection.

From light classical music to film songs and from ghazals to bhajans and pop, she has sung a variety of numbers. Having worked with almost all top music composers and singers in the industry, Lata has also featured in the Guinness Book of Records from 1974 to 1991 for having made the most recordings in the world.

Karisma Kapoor: I would like to wish Lataji a very happy birthday. The songs that she has sung for my grandfather don't need any explanation. I just want to ask her: how does she still sing so melodiously even at this age?

Prasoon Joshi: My best wishes to Lataji on her birthday. I feel so fortunate that my entry in Bollywood was marked by a song sung by her. I wrote my first song for her, which was the title track of "Lajja". It was totally a dream come true. Then luck again favoured me when I wrote Luka chhupi for her in the film Rang De Basanti. I feel extremely humbled to write songs for someone as great as her.

Kunal Kohli: What can one say about a living legend like Lataji and who am I to say something? I don't think a word has been created to describe her and her contribution to Hindi film music. My best wishes to her for a long and healthy life.

Mohit Chauhan: I give my heartiest congratulations to the melody queen. I wish more and more years added to her life. Since childhood I have been listening to her songs and she is still my favourite singer.

Sunidhi Chauhan: Words can't express what I feel about her. I only wish that she lives for ever and ever.

Kailash Kher: Whatever she has achieved till now and the way she sings even till today is just miraculous. A normal person can't do that. I won't call her just a singer; she is music to me. She is a blessing to the nation and all Indians should hope and pray for her long life and good health for many years to come. I wish her a long and healthy life.

Manoj Bajpai: May she live and sing for another 1,000 years. I doubt we will ever have another Lataji. Her voice is a miracle of god. A very happy birthday to her.

Sukhwinder Singh: Lataji's is the voice of the millennium. She is truly an international artist and one of her own kind. For her birthday I just want to say that I hope she lives for 1,000 years.

Anand Raj Anand: A very happy birthday to a living legend - Lataji.

SALMAN: BOX OFFICE GOLD

Salman Khan's riding high... and Bollywood is cheering.

It's Salman Khan time in Bollywood. With his full-on action film Wanted becoming a hit, the superstar has millions of rupees riding on his shoulders with three more big-budget films lined up. And all his friends in the industry - from David Dhawan to Vipul Shah - are joy at the actor's success.

Wanted earned about Rs.38 crore (Rs.380 million) across the country in its first week and industry experts feel that the film's good business will help Salman's approaching releases - Main Aur Mrs. Khanna, London Dreams and Veer.

"Salman always knew when and where to strike. He was always very confident about Wanted and this is the reason why he went all out to promote the film," Dhawan, who has worked with Salman in more than half a dozen films, told IANS.

"Forget first weekend collections; it was sheer disaster when Eid festivities began. Audience response inside auditoriums was unprecedented," he added.

Directed by Prabhu Deva, Wanted is a raw action-drama comparable to Aamir Khan's Ghajini.

"Salman may have done one or two bad films in recent times due to which it appeared to some that he was no more in the reckoning. They were mistaken though because he is beyond hits and flops," said Abbas Burmawalla of director duo Abbas-Mustan.

"His strong fan base could sense from a distance that Wanted was a film to watch out for and turned it into such a huge success," he added.

Salman's Yuvvraaj and God Tussi Great Ho bombed at the box office and many believed he was down and out. But the industry doesn't quite believe so.

"Wanted is Salman's one-man show. Yes, everyone involved with the film has done a fabulous job, but it is Salman's pull that got the audiences into theatres. Otherwise director Prabhu Deva was making his first Hindi film while Ayesha Takia isn't amongst the top three heroines that we have today," said Sanjay Kapoor, brother of Boney Kapoor who produced Wanted.

"He gave Wanted his full support and led the entire promotional campaign. He was supremely excited about the film and gave his heart, body, soul and time to its making followed by promotion," he added.

Vipul Shah, who has worked with Salman in the film London Dreams that releases Oct 30, is happy that Salman's three-film stint this year has got off to a good start with Wanted.

"My promotion plan though is not as expensive as that of Wanted. We are going right ahead in creating awareness around London Dreams, but the spillover of Wanted should also help our campaign. Since Wanted is all over, I am sure the euphoria and Salman's presence amongst audiences will continue for many more weeks to come," said Shah.

Filmmaker Suneel Darshan, who has never worked with Salman, is a little guarded before declaring this as a golden run of the actor.

"Wanted has done quite well in India but its fate in the overseas market has been contradictory. With crores of rupees riding on his shoulders in the current season on Veer, London Dreams and Main Aur Mrs.Khanna, all due to release shortly, god forbid if anything goes wrong, it will have severe repercussions on the industry's economy. This is just another interesting phase for Salman...," he said.

Himesh Reshammiya, with whom Salman has had a decade-long association, has a final word though. "Salman was a superstar, is a superstar and will always remain a superstar."

RANBIR KAPOOR: I HATE BIRTHDAYS

Says a 27-today Ranbir Kapoor. He feels b'days are overestimated but cuts cakes and has havan at home to bring in the day, nevertheless.

Ranbir Kapoor doesn't like celebrating his birthdays. Today he will spend his janamdin with close friends, family and of course girlfriend Deepika Padukone at his Bandra bungalow. As he turns 27, Ranbir chats about himself, his life, and his Friday release Wake Up Sid. Read on...

What's your mood like on this birthday?
I'm worried because Wake Up Sid is releasing this week.

Are you like Sid -- do you hate waking up early?
No. Actually I am the antithesis of Sid in many ways. I like waking up in the mornings and especially when I am shooting I can even get up at 3 am. I am not lazy or aimless like Sid. I know what I want in life.

So today did wake up early?
No way! On my b'days, I like waking up late.

And how do you plan to celebrate it?
I hate birthdays! I think they are very over-rated and a day when everyone is trying to make you feel special. I don't like doing anything on my birthdays. Last night my parents (Rishi and Neetu Kapoor) and sister (Riddhima) went out for a family dinner and my birthday in. Though I am not too fond of it I always cut cakes on my birthday. Today we will have a havan at home and later my friends will drop in to wish me just another day.

Do you want any special birthday gift this year?
I would only wish that the audience come and watch Wake Up Sid. I want to tell them it's a good film. There was something very special about the script, the character Sid and my director Ayan Mukerji. I loved the script as I found he had really something to say through his story. He's one of my closest friends today. I appreciate his vision.

Best wishes
Karan Johar: I wish Ranbir luck, love and happiness on his birthday. I plead to the nation to wake up on Friday and go watch Wake Up Sid. I think Ranbir is totally Sid - he was born to play the character. It's in his DNA and body language.

Ayaan Mukerji: I hope he has a great year ahead. I don't think Ranbir is Sid - he is far more motivated and successful. Sid exists in the moment, and has an appreciation for leisure and knows how to have a good time - which Ranbir does too.

UNCLE YASH WANTS MR PERFECTIONIST

Chopra Sr has Aamir in mind for his next, which he will direct.

Buzz is that Yash Chopra, who celebrated his birthday last night, has signed Aamir Khan for his next directorial project.

Chopra Sr is looking to return from a five-year directorial break. His last was Veer Zaara with SRK.

Yash directed Aamir in Parampara in 1992. The director then approached him for Darr (1993). Shah Rukh finally did the film.

A source in the industry reveals, "Chopra has been working on a number of scripts but now has his heart set on one recently. He thinks Aamir is perfect for the part. He has approached the actor and will soon meet him."

Relations between Aamir and the banner improved after Fanaa. If Khan does the film, it will take their association to a new level." The source further adds, "There is an urgency in the YRF clan to make big films with established stars." Chopra Sr wants to start his film by early 2010 and release it by the end of the year.

Says Rafiq Gangjee of YRF, "Yash Chopra's next directorial script has still not been finalised. The issue of casting arises only after that."

RITEISH'S BILLA NUMBER 007

Riteish Deshmukh’s mimicry acts have often left people rolling on the floor with laughter. Riteish’s talent was noticed by comedy king David Dhawaan at an award function who inculcated an interesting cameo for Riteish in his upcoming film, Do Knot Disturb.

Riteish co-stars with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan in Aladin and has mimicked everybody’s favourite hero in his approaching comedy. The mimicry was no mean feat as Riteish recreated Vijay Verma’s famous billa scene from Deewar.

A source informs us, “In the scene, Riteish is dressed in a blue shirt with a rope on his left arm and a beedi in his mouth Riteish Deshmukh sways a bundle of thousand rupee notes imitating Amitabh Bachchan from Deewar. Adding tadka to the scene is Riteish’s billa no.which reads 007 instead of 786. The scene shouldn’t create any problems because Riteish and Amitabh Bachchan are on good terms as they have worked together in Aladin. Also, Riteish and Abhishek are good friends and Riteish idolizes Mr. Bachchan so he would never do anything to offend him.”

Talking about the spoof scene, David Dhawan says, “Riteish’s mother in the film, played by Himani Shivpuri imagines his son to be Amitabh Bachchan from Deewar, so we decided to have a scene with Riteish imitating him. It’s an absolutely hilarious scene that will have the audiences in splits and Riteish’s comic timing and body language is spot on. He is a flawless mimic.”

Producer Vashu Bhagnani didn’t want the scene to create any controversy or show Amitabh Bachchan in a poor light. “We have ensured it is not disrespectful to Amitji or the film Deewar. In fact we had even spoken to Rajiv Rai to tell him about the scene before we started shooting it,” he said.

Riteish Deshmukh was unavailable for comment. The multi-starrer romantic comedy which stars Lara Dutta, Sushmita Sen, Govinda, Sohail Khan, Ranvir Shorey, Riteish Deshmukh, Himani Shivpuri and Rituparna Sengupta hits theatres on October 2.

BIPASHA HAS 13 AVATARS IN PANKH

With her hot appeal, earthy beauty, diva-like attitude and va-va-voom figure, Bipasha Basu was the ideal choice to play the imaginary woman who colours the male protagonist’s fantasy in Pankh.

Director Sudipto Chattopadhay says, “Bipasha does not play a real human inPankh. She is a figment of the Jerry (the protagonist)’s imagination; an alter ego that he creates. She is neither a ghost nor a human but a fantasy who fits into Jerry’s emotional mood and psyche at a particular point of time. She has 13 personalities in the film which is one up over Priyanka Chopra’s 12 characters in What’s Your Raashee? I had written the characters with Bipasha in mind and I was delighted when she agreed to do the film as she liked the script.”

In case you are wondering how long the film is, fret not as it will only take 100 minutes of your time.

He is all praise for Bipasha’s acting prowess. “All the diva-like personas are larger than life. So, her body language, costumes, make-up and hair had to change with each of them. Bipasha has done a remarkable job in the film. She walked an extra mile for it and agreed to do it in spite of it being a radical film instead of a commercial one.”

Sudipto hasn’t seen too many of Bipasha’s films. “I haven’t seen all her movies but I liked her work in Jism; she held her own in Apaharan and was brilliant in Bachna Ae Haseeno.”

About his debut feature film, he says, “Pankh isn’t an arty film. We have made it for a sensitive, emotional audience who will understand the plight of the child-actor protagonist. Cross-dressing is a common phenomenon in Bollywood and it creates a lot of confusion in the child’s mind. We want to show how cross-dressing destroys a child’s life.”

Pankh stars Bipasha Basu, Lilette Dubey, debutants Maradona Rebello and Amit Purohit, Ronit Roy, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Mahesh Manjrekar.

SALMAN-PRIYADARSHAN KA DOSTANA

Salman Khan in a beret and red Being Human tee and Kat in a one-shouldered yellow top were the eye-catchers in an or else dull success party of National Award-winning film Kanchivaram.

The film's director Priyadarshan was snapped up giving Sallu a warm hug. Prakash Raj kept beaming at everyones present.

Most of the ladies who spice up Priyan's masala flicks also made an appearance. The film's producer, Shailendra Singh was also in attendance.

I DIDN'T WANT TO WIN ANY BEAUTY PAGEANT: DEEPIKA PADUKONE

Model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone says she always wanted to carve a niche for herself in the glamour industry but without taking part in a beauty pageant, unlike many of her colleagues.

"I had set up an objective to become a model without winning any beauty pageants," Deepika told choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan on STAR Plus' "Tere Mere Beach Mein".

But the actress didn't give any precise reason for her aversion to taking part in beauty contests.

A lot of Indian actresses including Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Celina Jaitley, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza joined Bollywood after earning fame through national and international beauty pageants.

SHILPA SHETTY MISSES SEAFOOD DURING NAVARATRI

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who is currently in London, is missing non-vegetarian food, particularly seafood, since she is maintaining a pure vegetarian diet for nine days as part of the ongoing Navratri celebrations.

"This is the only time in the year that I turn vegetarian for the whole nine days and fast on the last (day). It's difficult, especially since I travel so much and to top it all I love sea food," Shilpa posted on her blog.

In London after a "fun" holiday in the Maldives, Shilpa is currently busy working on her food and beverage project, Gourmet Creations. She has invested in it with fiance Raj Kundra.

The actress has teamed up with Andy Varma, celebrity chef and head of the wholesale division and business development of the V8 Gourmet group, to bring out ready meals, pickles and chutneys.

"The curry project would be out by end of this year," she confirmed.

Lately, Shilpa has been able to do a lot of other things after the shooting of "The Man" has been delayed. While Sunny Deol plays male lead, Shilpa will be seen as his love interest in the action thriller.

"(I'm) reading scripts for my home production, and working on my Ghatkopar center for my Medispa. (I'm also) thrilled to announce the opening of IOSIS Medispa in Jalandhar," she added.

SRK-KAJOL: SIZZLING CHEMISTRY

SRK-Kajol is on the cover of the October issue of Vogue India. The My Name Is Khan couple were shot by Atul Kasbekar and interviewed by Karan Johar.

Here's an quote from what the B-Town's sizzling on-screen jodi have said...

Kajol on her chemistry with Shah Rukh: I deeply respect him. He is a great human being, he has taught me a lot as an actor and a person.

When I look back to the things he has said to me, he was right in a lot of ways.

SRK on his chemistry with Kajol: I think we are comfortable in our own skin. We have never tried to outdo each other.

Some things work well in pairs earrings, shoes, socks, pyjamas. I think we know that our individual scenes in a film are fantastic, but together we are unconquerable.

She's honest, earnest, innocent, very loud, very scattered and very beautiful all that I'm not. I'm boring, not natural, I'm a workaholic, and I don't love people totally like she does.

SALMAN KHAN SUCKER FOR SOCCER

Will lead Kolkata's top teams on to the field for a friendly match, as part of Wanted promotions.

Salman Khan will be in Kolkata for a friendly match to mingle with the top soccer teams of the city - East Bengal and Mohun Bagan.

It's part of the promotions of Salman-starrer Wanted, which released last week. Producer Boney Kapoor confirms, "Salman will be in Kolkata on September 26 for a friendly soccer match to be played between Kolkata's top teams. It will be called The Wanted Cup and Salman will lead the teams on to the field and will work out with them."

This is also the first time Khan will be in Kolkata during Durga Puja - which is a huge festival there. He is looking forward to the experience. Boney adds, "Salman has a huge fan following in West Bengal. Though he's been there for shootings, this is the first time that he's going to promote a film there. The whole team of Wanted, including Prabhudheva (the film's director) and the cast members, will also be there to cheer the teams."

The match will be held at one of Kolkata's biggest sports stadiums - the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium.

Initially, the match was to be held in the Salt Lake Stadium but now it has been shifted to the RSS because of security reasons. Salman will be interacting with his fans and the media at the event. Khan had earlier been roped in as the brand ambassador of Indian football by the All India Football Federation to promote the game in the country.

MALLIKA OOMPHS IT UP... AGAIN

She’s known for opting to be away from the attention but this time, we found out where Mallika Sherawat has been hiding!

The actress was invited as a special guest to a UNICEF charity event that took place in Los Angeles last week. And boy, was she in good company! Dressed in a bright yellow Max Azria gown, Mallika mingled with English actor Michael York, Billy Zane (of Titanic fame) and his date, Princess of Congo, and other dignitaries including Lord and Lady Hayes.

And in her trademark style, Mallika said it as it is, with one of her memorable quotes — when a photographer at the event told her ‘Everyone is talking about you’, she replied: “Anything to bring attention to a good cause.” That’s Miss Sherawat for you!

RANI SPEAKS OUT

With a small frame and a million watt smile, Rani Mukherjee knows to charm her viewers in real as well as reel life.

Her recent release might not have rocked the box-office, but she comes up with that million watt smile of hers. It is easy to see that she is happy. Ask her about her failing act before her present release, and pat comes the reply, “We actors are like vagabonds. We accustom ourselves to the surroundings, and go so deep that we need time to come out. People feel it’s so simple to make a movie. I like giving my best to a movie I work in. I want my work to speak volumes, and for that I have to give my it my 100 per cent. That is why I was away from the scene.”

While others in the industry describe her as one of the most versatile actresses, Rani wants to surprise everyone every time. “I like giving my audience their paisa vasooli. I want to do an action film which will get my adrenaline high, do something I have never done before. I want to do a real Indian martial art film. We have a martial art culture down south and even Punjabi martial art is so interesting. Nobody ever shows that. There are some TV shows where they came with such fighting styles. They really intrigue me,” she says.

What makes her do soft romantic comedies in general? “I am a feel good movie freak. You’ll see me more in romantic comedies. But now, I want to push myself for more difficult roles. For instance, it was pretty challenging to play a boy. I went through rigorous training to get my act together. And the funniest part is none of the critics have spoken about it,” says she. In other words, she has a disappointment in her heart. But, that does not show.

INTRODUCING 12 YEAR-OLD BACHCHAN

66 year-old Amitabh Bachchan plays a 12 year-old for the first time in R Balki’s Paa. He will be introduced as a debutant in the opening title of the film.

Director R Balki made the decision as he believes (rightly so) that it is the first time Amitabh Bachchan is playing a 12 year-old and. The Cheeni Kum director said that if there is anyone in India who (possibly) hasn’t seen Bachchan before will not recognize him at all. His character is simply called Auro in the film.

The actor is a school of acting in himself. He was so involved in the film that became the character even when the cameras went off. He looked and behaved like an ill-behaved 12 year-old on the sets. As Auro, he threw tantrums and was hard to control or to discipline. He would run around the place and not sit still till people gave in to his demands.

What’s more is that his character Auro has only 4-5 teeth and that’s because he is addicted to chocolates and ages in reverse. Amitabh Bachchan has been advised not to eat chocolates because of his health issues but he didn’t let that come in the way of his role. He used to relish chocolates on the sets of the film. The reason Auro is a chocolate addict is because he suffers from Progeria and chocolates aides the metabolism of people suffering from this condition.

Balki says that the veteran actor has delivered the finest performance of his career as a 12 year-old and deserves not only the best acting award but also the awards in the child and debutant actor categories.

KARAN JOHAR ASKED ME TO TWITTER: RITEISH DESHMUKH

Who is the latest Bollywood celeb to tweet?

The Twitter bug has bit many celebrities in glitter town and the latest entrant is Riteish Deshmukh. The actor says it was filmmaker Karan Johar who asked him to join the popular social networking site.

"Karan Johar asked me to get on to Twitter. I didn't know a thing about it. I asked him how to go about it. He just told me that it's a wonderful thing and once I open my account, I'll understand how to operate it," Riteish told IANS.

Celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Celina Jaitley, Karan Johar, Dino Morea, Imran Khan and Gul Panag are among those who have been twittering and connecting with their fans.

WHAT WILL BIPASHA NOT DO WITH JOHN?

Hot actor reveals girlfriend’s pet hate.

John Abraham's love for bikes is eminent but his lady love, actress Bipasha Basu, doesn't like riding pillion with him for that very reason.

"Bipasha doesn't like sitting on my bike because I am very passionate and selfish about my bike. When she sits, I keep saying 'I hope you don't leave a scratch on the bike and all that', so that's why she prefers a car to sitting behind me in a bike," John told reporters in New Delhi during an event.

John will be next seen in Hook Ya Crook and 1-1800 Love.

RAINS STOP KHAN

The heavy shower in the city yesterday forced Karan Johar to cancel the day's shoot of My Name Is Khan. The director has put up a sophisticated set at Film City for the last schedule of the film.

KJO on a social networking site says, "Shooting held up because of sudden rain and thunder. Waiting for it to stop!"

SALMAN KHAN WANTED VICTORY PARTY, SHAH RUKH KHAN, BACHCHANS, NOT INVITED

Salman Khan, the macho man of bollywood who tasted success with his flick ‘Wanted’(wherein he plays a hit man opposite lovely Ayesha Takia) after a long time, has decided to celebrate the event by hosting a grand success party tomorrow at a Juhu’s hot night spot.

Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan’s sizzling hot girlfriend, has already extended her holiday for the big bash tomorrow and will be returning to shoot ‘Rajniti’ only after that. The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Salman Khan has spoken personally to chef and other people from the venue to make arrangements perfect. He wants the party to have everything from his favorite chicken tikka to vegetarian dishes for those who would not have non-veg items.

Though Salman Khan has plans to invite Karan Johar and Farah Khan (close Shah Rukh Khan loyalists) but excluded from the guest list the names of King Khan, Bachchans (Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai for obvious reasons) and Vivek Oberoi.

Insiders reveal that the entire bash for the success of ‘Wanted’ is being exactly supervised by Salman Khan himself. He has been taking care about every little detail and has even marked out that the DJ will be playing hit numbers from ‘Wanted’ and his other hit films on the occasion.

The buzz is that Salman Khan’s pleasure comes from the fact that ‘Wanted’ is likely to fetch around Rs 40 crores to distributors in India alone, and that too, after paying theatre rentals and other overhead expenses. In fact, sources close to Salman say that flick has already been declared as one of three biggest hits of the year.

Even in overseas territories, Salman’s latest flick has caught the imagination of the people. For instance, in Pakistan ‘Wanted’ has become the biggest bollywood flick to be released so far in such a limited period. Similar encouraging reports have also come in from other parts of the world.

The gossip has it that Salman Khan has dual purpose in hosting such a huge bash for the success of his film. Insiders reveal that the main purpose of Sallu bhai is to show his strength and influence in the industry to his rival Shah Rukh Khan camp, through this huge bash.

It may be recalled that Salman and Shah Rukh had a fight last year on the occasion of Katrina’s birthday bash and since then never miss a chance to pull each other legs or show their strength.

Salman has also not invited Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai for obvious reasons. Vivek Oberoi, who had apologized publicly, has still not managed to get Sallu bhai’s amnesty and so not invited to the party.

IMRAN HATES LUV STORYS

Buzz is Imran Khan who will now be seen in Karan Johar’s I hate Luv Storys isn’t quite sure about the film’s title.

The film in question is directed by Punit Malhotra, designer Manish Malhotra’s nephew who assisted Karan Johar during Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna. The film is a love story based in Mumbai starring Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles. While Punit had idea of the title well before hand he changed the spelling as per numerological concerns. However, Imran Khan had his doubts with the new title.

A source close to the actor said, “When Punit changed the title to I hate Luv Storys, Imran was a little concerned as it sounded a little too amateur to him. He felt retaining the original spelling would have been a better option but by that time producer Karan Johar and director Punit had already finalised on the title. Even so while promoting his flick on Twitter and connecting with his fans, many even questioned the title saying it was just too wannabe.”

Imran however directed the questions to his director and producer saying on Twitter, ‘Ok lots of talk about the title IHLS. Please cc all thoughts and suggestions to @kjohar25 , @punitdmalhotra , @sonamakapoor as well as me...’ Still Imran is happy that he’s finally getting back to the romantic genre considering his last two action films sank without a trace. The source added, “He was really upset when his earlier two films didn’t work at the BO, he was worried that starting off with a romantic genre would have him sidelined but doing the action films had him more sidelined than ever. He’s glad to get back to the romantic genre.” Imran too said on Twitter, ‘yeah, I'm tired of action. My next film is a straight up RomCom.’

We too is excited to know that Imran is back to doing what he does best and can't wait for the chocolate boy to return with a bang!

ASIN HOSPITALIZED

Asin was suffering from an acute sinus condition due to which she was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri, suburban Mumbai on the day of Eid.

Sources say that Asin was admitted because she was in pain from severe exhaustion, just like Priyanka Chopra while some other sources counter that claim by saying that she was admitted because she has been neglecting her sinus condition for a while. Her condition got worse because London Dreams had several night schedules and it was cold. Even during the shooting, she would be bundled in jackets in between shots.

‘Even while she was being treated for her sinus problem, nothing could bring Asin’s spirits down. It also helps that the atmosphere in the hospital is very bright and lively, unlike other hospitals which tend to get depressing. She was happily talking to the nurses and singing some songs as she was undergoing her treatement. No one could tell that this girl was a huge star and was suffering from an disease as she was congenial, down-to-earth and cheerful,’ says a source.

Asin is a committed professional and chose to get admitted once she had finished all her assignments around Eid. Kokilaben is near her house in Lokhandwala and was a convenient choice for her. It’s becoming a fast favourite with celebrities. First Priyanka Chopra, who stays in Versova was admitted when she had fainted due to exhaustion and then even Shilpa Shetty was spotted there.

Asin’s father Joseph Thottumkal said his daughter’s stay at the hospital was nothing to worry about. She would be out and about in no time.

KAREENA HAD A COUPLE OF SURPRISES ON HER BIRTHDAY

Kareena Kapoor had two great birthday surprises this year. The first was when Aamir Khan delayed their shoot for 3 Idiots from September 21 to 25 and then it got better when beau Saif Ali Khan flew in her mom and close friends to Udaipur where she was shooting for a magazine cover.

Last year too the actress was shooting on her birthday (September 21) for 3 Idiots. This year too, when the shooting was delayed, she accommodated and gave up her janam din date. When Aamir learnt about it, he requested Raj Kumar Hirani to postpone the shoot, ad let her have a free day.

Bebo was in Rajasthan on Saturday for a shoot and was to return later in the day. But that evening, Saif flew in and booked them into the Udai Vilas Palace Hotel.

Then on Sunday night, he surprised her further by flying in her best friend Reena, her designer Shabina Khan, some other close friends and her mom Babita to bring in her birthday.

Says a source close to the actress, "He had booked a suite and in true Saif style, he had it decorated it with candles, flowers and everything that she loves. Saif had recently taken her for a European holiday so Bebo wasn't expecting Saif to surprise her again, which he did!"

JOHN AND JACQUELINE WILL SIGN A THRILLER TOGETHER

Not even one film old actress, Jacqueline Fernandes, seems to have impressed John Abraham. He has signed her for his home production to be directed by Sabal Shekhawat.

This project was earlier with Studio 18, who backed out. But John was keen to work on the project and took it up as producer.

A source reveals, "John saw some rushes and promos of Jacqueline's debut film Aladdin and really liked her. Also, they both workout in the same gym and know each other."

The source continues, "The movie is a spy thriller and required a fascinating chick. Jacqueline will also be seen in a sporty avtaar. The film goes on the floor early next year." The director yet has to finalise the location, Turkey being one of them. Director Sabal confirms, "We have signed Jacqueline for the movie."

If sources are to be believed, John has also suggested Jacqueline for Phillum City directed by Deven Khote.

MALLIKA'S GIRLIE TIME WITH SHIRLEY

Sherawat and MacLaine gab and grab some grub in LA; they discussed re-embodiment too!

Mallika Sherawat is on a Hollywood-meets-Bollywood spree in Los Angeles to promote and create awareness for her next release Hisss directed by Jennifer Lynch.

It is learnt that she recently spent some time with legendary American movie star, Shirley MacLaine. They were spotted leaving the Chanel store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

They were followed by paparazzi and ducked in to a cafe for a late lunch. The meeting between the Oscar-winning actress and Mallika lasted over two hours." A few weeks ago Mallika met Shirley's brother, Warren Beatty, at the Beverly Hills Polo Lounge. It is unclear whether Warren arranged the introduction between the actresses.

A source close to Mallika says, "They discussed films, and gosipped. Shirley told her stories about Billy Wilder and the time when she 'kicked Jack Nicholson in the groin.' Ms MacLaine also enquired of her film Hisss, as she has long been fascinated by reincarnation and has written nine books on it." Since Hisss deals with reincarnation, the senior actress was quite interested in the film, and asked to see the teaser promo of the film.

Shirley is known to be one of the quirkiest Hollywood actresses, just like Mallika who loves drama. Naturally the two bonded like soul sisters, albeit from different generations. MacLaine gave the desi actress tips on how to make it in Hollywood.

The H-Town actresse's best films include Irma la Douce, Steel Magnolias, Terms Of Endearment, The Turning Point, The Apartment, Madame Sousatzka, Closing The Ring, Rumor Has It and Used People among others.

KARISMA KAPOOR IS PREGNANT

According to sources close to the family, Karisma Kapoor is having her second child. The actress, who is married to the Delhi businessman Sanjay Kapur already, has a daughter Samaira, who is four. Lolo's younger sister Kareena is excited with the idea of becoming an aunt for the second time.

Says a source, "The actress was spotted with a baby bump at a suburban seven-star hotel in Bandra on Wednesday afternoon. Karisma was last seen at events a few weeks ago (she was last seen at Neetu Kapoor's mom's chautha) and has since then been keeping a low profile.”

“She is now in her first trimester. This is the happiest phase in her life. Samaira is growing up, her marriage (which ran into troubled waters a few years back) is in a happy place now and she is also keeping herself busy with supports. Sanjay and she feel that it was a good time to have another baby."

The source adds that sister Kareena is over the moon about Karisma's pregnancy. "Bebo loves children and dotes on her niece Samaira. She organises her birthday parties and always picks up gifts for her from abroad. She is also very close to her sister and can't wait to hold Lolo's second baby in her arms."

When asked about the sister's happy news, Kareena Kapoor says, "Who told you?" but refused to say anything after that. Karisma's father, Randhir Kapoor, who is currently in Russia, says, "I have no idea if Lolo is expecting or not. No one has told me as yet. I would be very happy if she is expecting."

I CAN'T AFFORD AN IPL TEAM: RANI MUKHERJI

So what are the Bollywood actress’s main concerns right now?

She took tips from Shah Rukh Khan to appreciate cricket for her role in Dil Bole Hadippa, but Rani Mukherji has no meaning of following her good friend's footsteps by bidding for an Indian Premier League (IPL) team.

"I can't afford it... I don't have so much money. There is no chance that I can buy an IPL team," Rani told IANS in an interview in New Delhi.

"Right now I don't even think that I can take up so much responsibility because everything of that sort means more responsibilities. I am quite happy doing what I am doing right now," she added.

IPL is quite popular among Bollywood stars - while Shah Rukh owns Kolkata Knight Riders along with Juhi Chawla, Preity Zinta has Kings XI Punjab and Shilpa Shetty bought stakes in Rajasthan Royals along with boyfriend Raj Kundra.

Salman Khan too is reportedly going to bid for a team this year.

Leave alone IPL, Rani says a big "no-no" to venturing into other facets of filmmaking, such as production or direction, like some of her superstar colleagues.

"Again with production comes a very big responsibility and so is with direction and I don't think I am ready for that as of now," she said.

What's on her mind right now is having a blast during Durga Puja.

"I am just hoping I can have a great time with my family and celebrate Durga Puja as I used to celebrate it as a kid. This time luckily I have kept no commitments during that time; so I am just hoping that this year I'll have a blast," Rani said.

Asked if she had any plans of visiting Kolkata for pandal hopping, the actress said: "I'll be in Mumbai... I always celebrate Durga Pujo in Mumbai only."
Unlike other A-list actresses, Rani is not brand conscious when it comes to her wardrobe. And she has no brand preferences either.

"There's nothing special...basically I love wearing good clothes. I walk into a shop and I buy anything I feel I'll look good in. In any case, having a toned body always feels great."

Her latest outing Dil Bole Hadippa! may have got mixed responses from both audiences and critics, but that has not deterred the actress's confidence.
"I have always done different things. I've done a Black that somebody would think twice before doing and now this. I take up challenging roles as that really excites me as an actor.

"For me it's very integral that I choose a character which is special for the audience as well as me," Rani said.

WISHING A SIZZLING BIRTHDAY TO BEBO

Had anyone anticipated that this ‘Refugee’ girl would ever grab the eyeballs? Or make men drool at her bootylicious figure? Or attract girls with her style and fashion? She first stepped into the screens with this movie – sans makeup, glamour and shine, with a chubby personality.

People, who were all-praise for her sister in those days, had hardly thought that she will ever make it big in Bollywood. And now look at Kareena Kapoor and you can see for yourself that turnaround in her. From being just another member of the well-known Kapoor clan to soon-expected-to-be bahu of Pataudis, Kareena is contentedly cushioned in the lap of Bollywood these days.

With ‘Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham’, Kareena showed what a Bebo she is proving what is she best at! Then came ‘Chameli’, another twist to her career, enriching her status and showing the audience that she can’t be only an arm-candy alone. Films like ‘Dev’, ‘Omkara’ too portrayed the brilliant actor within her, which reflects if given the right film. Her filmography will be incomplete if one forgets her as Geet. She successfully made this character to preside over everyone’s heart and thus won several awards hands down. ‘Jab We Met’ truly won audience due to this beauty’s bubbliness, complimenting the silent Shahid.

Then came a series of comedies, featuring this oomph gal and sadly you never got to see the substance from this actress. But one cannot stop expecting, for Kareena has ‘Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’, ‘Kurbaan’, ‘Three Idiots’, ‘Agent Vinod’ – where one can look forward to a different Bebo.

Today being her birthday, Kareena would have been busy with her work; shooting the remaining portions of Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Three Idiots’ with Aamir. But thanks to her co-star, Bebo is happily away in Rajasthan with her beau Saif to celebrate. Sources said Aamir told Raju to postpone the shoot if need be, but let Kareena off to celebrate her birthday. Well, that’s a nice twist for the actress now!

We wish her all the success and best wishes for her future. Keep sizzling Bebo!

AISHWARYA RAI GRABS THE 9TH PLACE

It’s been more than a decade that she won the crown. But this former Miss World is still accurately reigning the world!

The popular International Harpers and Queen magazine had listed 100 beautiful women and among them was our Aishwarya Rai Bachchan! Not only that! She has taken the ninth rank in the list, reports say.

In the meantime, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie is said to be topping the list, followed by Supermodel Christy Turlington. Among other beauties, Queen Rania of Jordan has also found her place in the chart.

Great going Ash!!

AKKI'S FAMILY ALBUM

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle are on the cover of the latest issue of L'Officiel India. Shooting together after nine years and the first time as a couple, the entire experience was one that neither of them would ever forget.

"This shoot will be kept in our family album for sure and that's why it's even more special for both of us," says Akshay who confesses that this was possibly one of the most enjoyable shoots he has done.

Dressed in Dior's Fall-Winter '09 collection during the shoot in London, the couple laughed, smiled and allowed a glimpse into their private world.

AKSHAY GETS HIS SON AARAV AN EXPENSIVE PC FOR HIS B'DAY

On his birthday (September 9), Akshay Kumar received numerous gifts. But the best present he received was a huge cut-out of Superman with his face place over on it by his son Aarav.

For the four-year-old, dad is Superman and he had planned his gift for his papa. In fact he had designed it on his computer with the help of his mom Twinkle. So for his son's birthday (September 15), AK got his beta a computer of his own.

Says a source close to the actor, "Aarav has been learning how to use the computer in his school for the last few months so this time Akshay decided to gift him a computer with all kinds of drawing and designing programs. He loves playing games on them.

That wasn't the only computer gift he got. Twinkle's mother Dimple also gifted Aarav an Apple notebook, which he can carry with him everywhere he travels."

Kumar Jr is excited with his two computers and has been proudly showing them off to all his friends.

In the Kumar family, birthdays are special. No matter where Akshay is shooting they all make sure they are together on each other's birthdays. September is a special month because it is Akshay (September 9), Aarav (September 15) and the actor's niece Simar's birthday too.

BEBO BRANDED AGAIN

Kareena Kapoor has signed up for an elite Italian watch company for a huge amount. Bebo will be seen in the garb of a cat woman in the ad.

Says a source close to the actress, "The campaign was shot by Prasad Naik along with a foreign team of technicians. Her look is very Lara Croft black flying suit, tightly coiled hair and a whipcord body.

It's totally different from the usual watch campaigns that have been shot till now. It's a very sporty ad with a classy look as it's a hi-end watch.

Kareena is very keen to do an action film so when they had a Lara Croft concept to the ad, she was very excited."

AFTER SERIOUS ROLES, ARJUN HAPPY TO SHOW HIS FUNNY SIDE

After playing a crooked film producer in "Om Shanti "Om", a gloomy failed musician in "Rock On!" and a lame unenthusiastic gangster in "Don", Arjun Rampal thinks it's high time he shed his serious image and show his funny side in multi-starrer "Housefull".

"This is why I am mixing it all up now. I guess these movies were a great platform for me to showcase my acting talent. Having established that, I deserve to let my hair down now. Due to this I picked a film like 'Housefull'," Arjun said.

"It was good fun to be a part of this riotous outing since it's a genre that I haven't ever ventured into. I wanted to do a lighter film after all the aforementioned films and I am glad I did 'Housefull' even though my character is still quite intense," he added.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Sajid Khan, the film also stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Boman Irani and Jiah Khan. Along with the huge star cast of the film, Arjun had a blast shooting for "Housefull" all over Europe through the months of July and August.

"We all had a lot of fun since the overall atmosphere was so great. Both Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala made sure that our entire stay was so comfortable and happy. I could feel an overall positive energy that was prevalent all these days.

"It was so significant actually to get the right camaraderie since the film is about so many characters all thrown together in tricky comical situations," said Arjun, who is back in town after shooting for "Housefull", which is almost complete.

The actor has seen a huge upswing in his career over the last few years with movies like "Rock On" (2008), "Om Shanti Om" (2007) and "Don - The Chase Begins Again" (2006) bringing him critical as well as commercial success. And not to forget his performance in 2008 films "The Last Lear".

Even though his recent release "Fox" has come and gone, Arjun has already moved on and is now looking at his future projects. With movies like Prakash Jha's "Rajneeti" and Karan Johar's Hindi remake of "Stepmom" under his belt, Arjun is also happy to finally have a sense of belonging in the Hindi film industry.

"I have been around since 2001 when I had three releases 'Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat', 'Deewanapan and 'Moksha: Salvation', all arriving back to back. After almost a decade in the industry, I can now proudly say that the industry has embraced me," the supermodel-turned actor said.

A young man from Delhi who has managed to find a slot for himself all on his own, he remembers the times when he was a complete outsider.

"At that time a person like me just wished for a sense of belonging. Believe me, it's a lonely and tough journey and you have to slog really hard. I too learnt it all over a period of time. Today, I am happy with the work that I am getting and am finally coming into my own," Arjun said, getting a little emotional.

PRIYANKA IS LOOKING FOR LOVE

Harman Baweja will get to choose his pal from 12 different Priyanka Chopras in What’s Your Raashee? In the meanwhile, the conservative star talks about how all the relationship rumours will affect her marital life in the future.

She said that the rumours linking to almost all her co-stars upset her. She doesn’t want people to believe them. Rumours mar her reputation as a sweet, Indian and homely girl with a family, relatives and friends. Chopra doesn’t want the rumours to her affect her near and dear ones and finds them a tad off-putting.

What also disturbs her is the fact that these stories will be archived forever on the internet. PC doesn’t want her children and husband to read them and question her or pass comments on her life before marriage. She wouldn’t like the stories haunting her all her life.

The Desi Girl, who has perfected the role of a bride in movies, has had a childhood ambition to be a bride in real life. Of course, she is looking for her Mr. Right. The superstar has money, fame, power and millions of men drooling over her, but romantic love is missing from her life. The sexy lass longs to fall in love and be swept off her feet. Men are intimidated by her success and she wants someone who will love her unconditionally and understand and support her. The gorgeous star is like any other girl as she dreams about the day when her world will revolve around her man; when he would be all that she thinks about and vice versa. Yup, Priyanka is practical. The world isn’t kind to one-sided love. The star has declared that the day she finds the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with; she will show him off to the entire world. Till then, it will be hush-hush. And she will continue working even after marriage as being idle and being indoors would drive her and the people around her crazy. However, her children and family will be her first priority.

DOSTA-NA: AISHWARYA RAI AND NEETA LULLA

Aishwarya Rai and Neeta Lulla have been friends for a long time. The ace designer has benefited from her association with the star. However, their purani dosti and professional relationship has gone sour.

Ash and Neeta have been friends for 11 years. Neeta has designed Ash’s gorgeous clothes in Devdas, Umrao Jaan, Taal and Jodhaa Akbar while her designs for Ash’s Cannes appearances were not so successful and Ash was panned for her bad fashion sense.

A source tells us that problems between Ash and Neeta started duringJodhaa Akbar when the actress and the designer didn’t agree on the designs. The costumes were an important and integral part of the film and won the designer many honors. Professional Ash, who looked every inch the Rajput princes in those overstated outfits, didn’t voice her opinion while promoting the film.

“The final straw came when Neeta chose Sushmita Sen as her showstopper at a fashion week last year. This didn’t go down well with Ash at all because Sushmita is her rival. Ash saw it as an act of disloyalty and was miffed with Neeta. She has not walked for the designer at any of her shows lately. Even at her most recent show which opened the ongoing fashion week, Sameera Reddy was the showstopper. Ash is in Goa shooting for Guzaarish but she could have easily taken a day off for Neeta’s show. It has been a while since Ash graced the ramp, her last ramp appearance being a Longines event almost a year ago. Ash also didn’t attend Neeta’s daughter Nishka’s store launch a few weeks ago. They have hardly been seen together since Jodhaa Akbar’s promotions last year. Ash has chosen the creation of other designers like Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi and Gauri-Nainika to wear to events, award functions and premieres. Neeta isn’t even designing for films like Action Replayy, Guzaarish, Raavana and Endhiran.”

Now Neeta is trying to get back into Ash’s good books by messaging and calling her to express regret but Ash is only cordial with her. The warmth is missing. When contacted, Neeta denied any rifts in their relationship.
