WHY KATRINA LOVES RANBIR

Katrina Kaif’s New York re-energized the box office. She will be seen in full-blown roles in two films this year, Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani and De Dana Dan and a special appearance in Blue. The beautiful actress tells us about her latest film, director Rajkumar Santoshi and working with Ranbir Kapoor who is the next big thing.

“It’s been a great honour to work with Rajji. I have done most of my films with Akshay and Salman. I asked them who is the best director for an actor to work with and both of them answered that it was Rajkumar Santoshi. I had an amazing time working with him. I had a great time shooting the songs in Turkey and am grateful to Ahmed Khan for the unbelievable choreography and Pritam for the superb music, as always,’ smiled Katrina.

Katrina has usually played the glam doll in most of her films except New York and, in APKGK her character seems to be more than just a pretty face. How does she feel about that? ‘I think I am very privileged that I keep getting fresh new chances with every film to better myself as an actress. In my opinion, Rajji has s reputation of not being just a fantastic director but also a fantastic director for actors and their performances. He has taught me a lot about improvisation. He has given my character and persona a new angle. It’s not anything like you have seen in New York or Singh is Kinng. It’s a completely different interpretation of Jenny, my character. Ranbir and I followed his guidance. We were always on the sets because being around Rajji, because you get to understand how he envisions the scene. Before every shot, he would enact my part and then enact my part. And we both would just stare at him in amazement. Then the two of us would have a competition as to who can copy him best. We just needed to follow his direction,’ she replied.

She and Ranbir are being touted as the best-looking on-screen pair of the year. About working with Ranbir Kapoor, she said, ‘He is a very talented actor and a very sweet guy. He is always lively and he fills the set with energy and interest. He makes sure everybody is having a good time. He is a positive force to be around. He is unbelievable actor and dancer.’

KATRINA'S NEW LOOK IN BLUE

Everyone who’s seen Katrina in the promo of Blue has been amiably amazed by her ‘biker chick’ look.

The pretty actress who always been portrayed as a girl next door, is for the first time sporting a gothic grime look with a stud pierced below her lip, dreadlocks and tattoos all over her arms. Kat’s look has been designed to complement Zayed’s character in the film – that of a daredevil biker.

Says a source form the production team, “Kat was very excited about her new look as it’s a huge contrast from her earlier roles. She gave a lot of inputs and worked closely with the designers on minute details.” But one thing that gave nightmares to Kat is her hairdo! The dreadlocks that she sports cause a lot of damage to one’s hair and Kat was very particular about that. “She’d immediately go for a hair wash once the shoot would be over,” says a source from the team.

Rocky S, who gave her the confidence to pull off the look so stunningly, is sure it will be a hit with auds.

KATRINA REPEATS, RIPS DRESS...

A stylist she shared with nayi dost, Bebo, saves the day

At the awards event held on Sunday night, one-time foes, Kareena and Katrina, met like long-lost friends. They hugged and kissed each other and Kat exchanged pleasantaries.

That wasn't all. They even shared a stylist, Anahita Shroff, who saved the day by fixing Kat's wardrobe malfunction at the event.

Katrina says, "When I was waiting backstage to receive my award, one of my friends stepped on it, and to my utter shock, it ripped right up to my thigh! For the first time I really freaked out, as the organisers kept telling me it was time to go on stage. I asked my friend to go fetch a needle and thread to sew up the tear but the poor girl was so nervous that her hands kept shaking and the stitching was crooked."

It was then that Katrina decided to take matters in her own hands. "I asked for Anahita, who had done Kareena and my styling for the event to come and help me. I was panicking by then! Anaita asked me to stay calm and within five minutes stitched it up so finely that I couldn't see the tear.

Then I walked on to the stage to get my award. Normally this kind of thing hasn't happened to me before, because we are always ready at shows. My hairdresser or other backups are always there to help out."

Wasn't this the same gown Katrina had worn to an awards event in January? Kat admits, "Yes it was the same one I had worn a few months back. It's one of my favorite gowns as I love the color red. I am glad I wore it as most of the actresses who came to the event - Lara, Aishwarya and Malaika were all attired in various shades of red like pink or maroon."

A KATRINA KAIF KA DEEWANA KILLS HIMSELF

Unable to meet his favourite actress Katrina Kaif in Bhopal a 24-year old man allegedly committed suicide.

The man named Motilal was part of a large group that had gathered at the location of the shooting for Prakash Jha's Rajneeti on September 5. When he was denied permission to meet Katrina he jumped into a nearby lake and killed himself. No suicide note was found. But spectators heard him shout Katrina's name while taking the fatal push. When asked about the incident Katrina says, "I heard something like this happened. I am not sure of what it was. It's a police matter so I am not getting into it. I don't know why the man killed himself."

Adds Prakash Jha, "We did hear about this. We don't know what happened to the man. How can we be aware of what the onlookers are up to? "However Jha met the senior cops in Bhopal and the matter has been sorted out. However Katrina who seems to have without knowing annoyed this suicidal respect is none too pleased with fan zeal. "I love attention. But only within limits. Besotted male fans is another are scary beyond a point," shudders Katrina.

KATRINA DENIES BEING ON TWITTER

My life is not an open Facebook, she says.

She is planning to launch her official website by the end of the year, but Katrina Kaif denies being on the social networking site Twitter and says somebody has been copying her.

"Something has to be done to stop this sort of destruction. I am not on Twitter or any other social networking website. I plan to start my own website by the end of the year," Katrina told IANS.

Katrina doesn't believe in half-measures. It comes as no surprise to know that she intends to start her own website after months of research, training and build-up before the internet's most 'hit' girl delves deeply into her own domain.

"I don't want this to be something I start and then leave to others to take care of. Of course, there will be professionals employed to oversee my website. But I'll pick and choose all the material and pictures that will on the site," said the actress.

Katrina's website will be called katrinakaifofficial.com and the actress wants it to be a one-stop all-purpose stopover for all her fans.

"My website will be comprehensive. It will have my exclusive pictures. In fact, I'll be doing photo sessions done specially by me. It will also have pictures taken by me on my sets and on location."

But the website won't carry reports on her day-to-day activities.

"I don't think it's cool to let people know where I am or what I'm doing throughout the day. I'm not on any of the social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. I guess my life is not an open Facebook," she puns.

The design, colours and format for her website are ready. It has been designed by her sister's boyfriend and two professional designers from Britain.

"I looked at several designs presented to me. Then I saw a British actress' website which I quite liked, though it was too dark for my personality. My website will be fun, feisty, bubbly and colourful, to go with my image.

"There's nothing messy and everything official about it," she said.

PRIYANKA AND KATRINA AT WAR

The hottest actresses in Bollywood will star in the Bollywood version of Bride Wars and launch their official wesbites.

The original film starred Anne Hathaway (Princess Diaries) and Kate Hudson (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days). Shrishti Arya will produce the film and she has bought the rights for remake. It was speculated that Kareena and Katrina would star in the remake but now Katrina and Priyanka have signed on the dotted line for the film for which they will start shooting by the end of the year.

A source said, ‘Priyanka and Katrina are working together for the first time. They have both seen the movie which is about two best friends who decide to get married on the same day which results in them falling apart as friends. Priyanka last worked with several heroines in Fashion and for Katrina, the film was Race. It will be interesting to see how the actresses behave with each other on the sets. They are both stylish, trendy and at the top of their game in Bollywood. Playing friends could be difficult and it will test their acting skills to the max as everyone knows that two contemporary actresses cannot get along. The catty part will be fun, when the brides start fighting.’

What’s more is that both stars will launch their official websites soon. Priyanka’s will be called www.iampriyanka.com. Her team is working really hard to make it go live. The tech-savvy chick is a huge hit on Twitter (with 50,000 followers) and on Facebook too. A source revealed that it would be a better way for her to connect with her fans. She has been inundated with requests for an official website. They can also chat with her and see exclusive personal photos and the like. On a note on the website, Priyanka said, ‘Hey! Welcome to my official site. My team and I are working hard to go live soon. In the meantime, stay in touch with me through Twitter and Facebook.’

Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif’s site is called www.katrinakaifofficial.com. She isn’t on Twitter and Facebook but she is the most Googled Bollywood celebrity so it makes sense to have an official site. The site will be launched at the end of the year. Though a team of professionals will oversee the day-to-day functioning of the site, she will supervise all the content and photos that go up. Kat wants it to be the ultimate source for the lowdown on her. As a result of this, her unofficial fan sites will suffer.

She will not put up her day-to-day activities and she finds that un-cool (is this a dig at Priyanka who is active on Facebook and Twitter?). her site will have exclusive photos and also production, on set photos. Kat said that her sister’s boyfriend and two designers from the UK are working on the site. It will have a colourful, feisty, bubby and fun look to go with her image. Kat darling, your image however, is sophisticated, cold, touch-me-not, holier-than-thou and politically correct. So your site is pretty different from the image you currently have.
